Europe

Where the firm was built.

Most of the portfolio has been founded, operated or sold here. The relationships are decades old and the operating knowledge is first hand.

The thesis

Good products stuck behind weak distribution.

Europe is not short of well built companies. It is short of companies that know how to be found, chosen and bought. Again and again the businesses the firm looks at have a product that works and a route to market that does not.

That gap is the firm's whole reason to exist, and it is the gap it can close fastest in the market it knows best.

A second pattern runs through the European portfolio: regulated sectors. Where compliance is hard, competition is thinner and a company that gets it right holds its position for longer.

What we look for here

Three shapes we keep returning to.

I

Proven at home, ready to cross a border

Proven in one country and stalled at the second. The obstacle is almost never the product. It is language, search demand, local proof and payment.

II

Regulated services

Healthcare, treatment, education and financial adjacent services, where a licence or a standard keeps casual competitors out and rewards the operator who takes compliance seriously.

III

Demand limited, not product limited

Companies whose ceiling is how many people know they exist. This is the constraint the firm removes fastest, and the one most investors are not equipped to touch.

Decades of operating relationships, in the market the firm knows best.
